Entry Log #2 - Online and Offline Writer

Here on the Starship: Literacy, the higher-ups have been marching us through drill after drill in order to hone our skills. At times, I wonder how much a lowly cadet like me can truly handle. In spite of this, I recognize that this is not only for my own good, but for the good of my future squadrons when I get promoted. So, without further babble over the comms system, here's a list of our last training drills.
Writing Coach Profile
Our first task was to create a writing coach profile. There isn't much to say here as the work speaks for itself. This is my response to the task:
Antonis is a fourth-year undergraduate student studying English Education (4-12) set to graduate in May 2027. He enjoys reading and analyzing papers from academic to creative. He is thrilled when having the opportunity to read new formats or on a new subject entirely. He is highly proficient in MLA style, but needs more familiarization with styles like APA and Chicago.
He is proficient in two languages (English and Spanish) and is familiar with helping writers who come from multiple language backgrounds. In his spare time he enjoys playing board games, singing and playing songs on his guitar, and spending time with friends. His special interests include anime from the 90s and a popular card game called Magic: The Gathering.
First of all, I just want to say that I love the theme you have going on for your blog! I felt like it really kept me wanting to read more, especially when you state the note about general inspiration, "not referencing my General aboard the ship with me." That was definitely a cool and funny addition! I also appreciate you explaining who some of the people in your literacy collage are. I'm pretty new to the Dungeons and Dragons community (as I've only played a one-shot), but it's cool to learn more about notable figures within this community!

ReplyDeleteFirst of all, I have to say I love the creativity of your format. The “Starship” aspect made your post genuinely fun to read, and it shows something important about you as a writer: you’re not afraid to experiment with voice. That alone says a lot about your literacy identity.
I also enjoy how clearly you define your strengths and growth areas in your writing coach profile. Being confident in MLA while openly acknowledging you’re still developing with APA and Chicago feels honest and relatable. Your bilingual background is another huge asset, especially in classrooms with multilingual writers. That experience will absolutely shape how you support students navigating language differences.

ReplyDeleteThis blog post was really cool to read through! That's nice that you like to read through many different papers because this interest definitely makes being a writing coach easier! I also love Pride and Prejudice, the reading might've been a bit harder and long for me but I love the story and all the different adaptions there are on film. I have never played Dungeons and Dragons but I love the animation Vox Machina and have probably watched it 5 times! This has led me to learn more about the cast and their campaigns but I'm so new to it that I just stick with the basic information and the animation!
Very creative play with the space transmission. This could be a powerful theme to play with as we venture into future blog posts discussing the use of AI.
